Here are some helpful tips and suggestions for 'first-time' and 'seasoned' organizers and stories from past Canadian WPCU events to get you started!
Are the resources free?
Yes! You can download the resources on our website for free. If you like this website and Canadian Week of Prayer resources, please consider making a donation to support this work.
Who makes the resources?
Every year, Christians from a different host country choose a theme and a focus Scripture text and prepare draft texts for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU). The final yearly international WPCU booklet is published by the international ecumenical WPCU Writing Team, which is appointed jointly by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches. National and regional councils of churches adapt these materials for use in their local context.
For over 50 years, The Canadian Council of Churches’ Commission on Faith and Witness has assembled an ecumenical Writing and Animation Team to prepare Canadian Week of Prayer resources, including French translations and original materials. This Writing and Animation Team, made up of volunteers from member churches of The Canadian Council of Churches and representatives from the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism, the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism, and the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada, meets in March-May to produce resources for the following year.
We are delighted to do this work in cooperation with our ecumenical partners, the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism, the Prairie Centre for Ecumenism, and the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada!
We invite you to learn more about us, and to support our ecumenical work!
