Communities of Prayer: Montreal QC

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, over 300 people gathered for prayer and fellowship at the ecumenical Week of Prayer for Christian Unity service at St Hagop Armenian Apostolic Cathedral in Montréal, QC. The theme of the service was “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the hope of your calling,” based on Ephesians 4:4.

The event was organized by Dr. Adriana Bara, National Director of CNEWA Canada and Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism, in collaboration with Fr. Hagop Yaacoubian, Director of Christian Education at the Armenian Prelacy of Canada; Pierre Chamas, President of the Alliance of Middle Eastern Christians in Canada; and Bishop Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Church of Canada and President of the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism.

Participants were warmly welcomed by Archbishop Papken Tcharian of the Armenian Prelacy of Canada. Most Reverend Christian Lépine, the Catholic Archbishop of Montréal, delivered an inspiring homily, while Bishop David Mbuyi of the Anglican Church, Bishop Ioan Casian of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and Bishop Marwan Tabet of the Maronite Church of Canada—alongside nuns and more than twenty clergy from Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental, and Protestant churches—guided the faithful in prayer.

The service was followed by agape fellowship, where Christians of different denominations connected after the spiritual ecumenical evening.
